Senator-elect Smucker Announces Staffing Decisions and
the Opening of a York District Office

Senator-elect Lloyd Smucker (R - Lancaster) has filled his staff positions as he prepares to represent the 13th Senatorial District.  Ray D'Agostino, the manager of West Lampeter Township in Lancaster County, will be Smucker's Chief-of-Staff.  "Ray brings proven leadership and management experience to the position," stated Smucker.  D'Agostino served for eight years as West Lampeter's Township Manager.  "As an official in West Lampeter, I admired Ray's commitment to providing top notch constituent service and ensuring that government ran efficiently and effectively.  I am pleased that he has accepted the position," added Smucker.

Smucker also intends to open a district office in the York County portion of the 13th Senatorial District.  "Having a district office for York County constituents is an important step in ensuring all citizens of the district have access to services and the ability to discuss important issues with their state senator," Smucker commented.  The goal is to open such an office within the next three months.  A formal announcement of an office opening will be made when final arrangements are completed.  While most of the 13th Senatorial District is in central and southern Lancaster County, the district includes the boroughs of East Prospect , Hallam, Wrightsville and Yorkana, and the Townships of Chanceford, Hellam, Lower Chanceford, Lower Windsor, and Springettsbury in York County.

In addition to D'Agostino, Smucker has asked Mitch Hanna previously on the staff of retiring Senator Gibson Armstrong to stay on and serve as the District Director.  "As a top aide to Senator Armstrong, Mitch has a wealth of experience in providing constituents with excellent service.  His extensive knowledge of the community and contacts is a great asset," stated Smucker.

Other veteran staff members of Senator Armstrong who will be joining Smucker include: Tabitha Hummer, Deputy Chief- of-Staff; Amber Boston, Administrative Assistant, both in the Harrisburg office; and Lisa Haldy, Constituent Relations Specialist in the Lancaster office.  Experience and continuity in constituent and legislative services will be important for the freshman senator.

Also joining Smucker's staff is Holly Lyristis as a Constituent Relations Specialist with a particular focus on community outreach.  She is currently employed as a paralegal for Nickolaus and Hoenaddle in Lancaster.  "Holly has a passion for providing top-notch customer service and will be a solid addition to the team," Smucker stated.  Lyristis will be based in the Lancaster office, but will also assist in the Harrisburg office and the York County office, as needed.

"I am blessed to have such an incredible team with a mix of experience and enthusiasm which will help me hit the ground running," stated Smucker.  "Each person has a special emphasis that will serve the constituents of the district extremely well."

Legislators began their duties on December 1.
