June 24, 2010 – Senator Smucker participated in a ribbon cutting event at The Groffs Family Funeral Homes building on Orange Street in the city of Lancaster. With the completion of this project, over 59,000 square feet of vegetated roof has been installed to date in the city of Lancaster. People are coming to recognize the many benefits of green roofs. Partners in the Groffs Family Funeral Homes project include the Lancaster County Planning Commission, Millersville University Department of Earth Sciences, Lancaster County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, Lancaster County Conservation District, Sierra Club, Susquehanna Sustainable Business Network, LIVE Green and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
