January 29, 2010 – Senator Smucker participated in the Good Schools Pennsylvania legislative breakfast at St. Andrew UCC Church in Lancaster. Senator Smucker was able to share his thoughts on the state of education in Pennsylvania to a packed house of over 100 local educators and citizens. January 27, 2010 – Senator Smucker attended the York County
Agriculture Recognition Banquet. Rexroth Farms was presented the 2010
Outstanding Farm Family Award at the 24th annual banquet held at the York Expo

January 21, 2010 – Senator Smucker attended an event at James Buchanan Elementary School recognizing the school's outstanding physical education program. Dr. Andy Baldwin, former star of ABC's The Bachelor, Navy doctor and Ironman triathlete, was in attendance and helped lead the program. (Click on photo to view additional photos.)

January 21, 2010 – Senator Smucker hosted a town hall event at
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community in Southern Lancaster County.
Senator Smucker provided an update to the residents on the issues in Harrisburg
and reflected on his first year in office. After the presentation, Senator
Smucker fielded questions from those in attendance. Quarryville Presbyterian is
a retirement community that keeps its residents spiritually focused, personally
involved, emotionally fulfilled, physically active, socially connected and

January 21, 2010 – Senator Smucker addressed York County business leaders at the annual York County Chamber legislative luncheon. The event was held in the White Rose Room at the York Expo Center, with Fox 43 News Anchor Evan Forrester serving as the emcee. Senator Smucker provided an update from the Senate Labor Committee. January 21, 2010 – Senator Smucker toured Komax Systems in York.
Accompanying Senator Smucker on the tour was Mike Smeltzer, Executive Director,
and Dana Dehoff, Vice President of Workforce Development, both with the
Manufacturer's Association of South Central PA. Komax CEO Brian Micciche took
the group through the building, showing where they manufacture photovoltaic
(solar) manufacturing products. Komax Systems moved in to their new
Springettsbury Township facility in the summer of 2009. Komax is a recognized
world leader for its high speed automation for electronics, medical technology
and automotive industries. Work in the Springettsbury Komax plant is focused on
producing standard and custom-made photovoltaic manufacturing equipment which is
shipped all over the world. The new facility allowed Komax to add dozens of new

January 13, 2010 – Senator Smucker participated in the “VIP Dairy Showmanship Contest” hosted by the Center for Dairy Excellence, PennAg Industries and the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association in conjunction with the 2010 Pennsylvania Farm Show. January 9, 2010 - Senator Smucker kicked-off National Mentoring Month by participating as a celebrity chef for the inaugural MEN COOKING FROM THE HEART fundraiser to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lancaster County. Macaroni & Cheese was the culinary creation prepared by the Senator. |
