January 21, 2010 – Senator Smucker toured Komax Systems in York. Accompanying Senator Smucker on the tour was Mike Smeltzer, Executive Director, and Dana Dehoff, Vice President of Workforce Development, both with the Manufacturer's Association of South Central PA. Komax CEO Brian Micciche took the group through the building, showing where they manufacture photovoltaic (solar) manufacturing products. Komax Systems moved in to their new Springettsbury Township facility in the summer of 2009. Komax is a recognized world leader for its high speed automation for electronics, medical technology and automotive industries. Work in the Springettsbury Komax plant is focused on producing standard and custom-made photovoltaic manufacturing equipment which is shipped all over the world. The new facility allowed Komax to add dozens of new engineering and manufacturing jobs to the region.
