June 29, 2009 – Senator Smucker is joined by York County ACTION President, Ron Cohen and his grandson, Nickolaus Hiestand, who served as a Senate guest page for the day.

June 29, 2009 – Senator Smucker welcomed Lydia Massa and her father, Ernie Massa, to the Senate floor.  Lydia, who will enter fifth grade in the fall, served as a guest page for the day.

June 11, 2009 – Senator Smucker listened to testimony during the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee hearing in Lancaster.

June 11, 2009—At the invitation by Senator Smucker, the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee held a hearing in Lancaster at the City Council Chambers.  The Committee heard testimony on issues affecting third class cities such as blight, community revitalization, housing and finances.  Representatives from the cities of Lancaster, York and Lebanon were featured in the hearing.  A variety of testimony was given by city and state officials, businesses, associations, non-profit and economic development organizations.  After the hearing, Senators Smucker and Argall took a tour of the new Lancaster County Hotel and Convention Center as an example of the type of economic development occurring in smaller cities. June 10, 2009 – Senator Smucker welcomed Brian Lyle and his son to the Capitol for the day.  Mr. Lyle, a local hero in Wrightsville, provided information to police that lead to the arrest of a bank robber.
