Executive Director Nancy Jordan guided the tour. Established in 1915, LDCC provides high quality, affordable childcare and educational experiences for 102 children 8 weeks old to kindergarten age. Their target population includes low and low to moderate-income working parents and parents enrolled in educational programs. They also serve the homeless population and children in need of protective care through the Children & Youth services program. LDCC is a Star 4 center, the highest level achievable. The Stars program utilizes research-based best practices to promote quality early learning environments and positive child outcomes. The standards address staff qualifications and professional development, the early learning program, partnerships with family and community, and leadership and management. Senator Smucker was truly impressed by the facility, staff and most importantly, the children.
